I’m so happy you’re here.
Oh hey hey! My first ever blog post. You know when you have like a million and one ideas and just never really execute them, you talk to your husband about it and he gives you either ‘yeah no worries babe just do it’ or a ‘that’s a waste of time’ kind of answer and then that’s when you kinda close the page and never write the book. Well let me tell you, I’ve completed my website in three days and now I’m writing this blog post. Wanna know my secret? Just do it.
So, one you are here reading this because you follow me on the gram and are bloody so excited for me or two you are here because you follow me but don’t follow me, either way - welcome. Jokes aside let’s get to the real deal of a little about my life, it’s short and sweet with a fair few side gigs so I think I can m a y b e help you with the courage to know that you don’t need to be grand to start.
I’m Jas and if you don’t already follow my daily grind on my stories then this parts for you. My husband Luke is my absolute blessing in life. I still remember when he asked me out I’d not long been out of a really loooongggg, not so great relationship. I romantically added Luke randomly on a FB stalk after a few too many drinks and thought he was just the sexiest man alive, still do ha. We met in Melbourne, I told him he looked exactly like his display picture and he was head over heels for me. I didn’t want a relationship when he asked me out and my best friend at the time was like jassssss his your dream man that ticks everyone of your boxes you gotta go out with him. Lucky I rang him back and said yes when I did or we wouldn’t be living this wonderful life with our three beautiful children. Indy is 7, Matilda (Tilly) is 5 and Bobby (Bob) is 3 and they are all so different and so bloody loved.
I dreamt of being a Mama allllllll my life. I absolutely adore babies and my family is hands down the absolute reason why I do everything I do, especially my photography gig. You see, I was probably doing the exact same thing as you and if you’re reading this and relate do message me and tell me. Stay at home Mum, I’d wake up, feed kids, change nappies, walk, change nappies, feed kids, husband comes home, make dinner, clean, get in bed and do the same thing all over again the next day. Don’t get me wrong I still do all that minus the nappies and I did absolutely love being stay at home Mum but I wasn’t really doing anything for me.
That is when I started to think of a million ideas of what can I do? FYI prior to being Mum I studied nursing for a year (I failed a subject and gave it in) and then lived and worked in Melbourne where I got my Real Estate License (bloody loved this job and probably would go back and do it again) and then moved back to the country after having our first born babe.
Luke is a massive support, his the guy that will click the check out on the cart for the ideas that I had probably more so I’d shut up and he didn’t have to hear me talking about it anymore. I’m also a Capricorn, ideas is my middle name. Anyway, here I was with candles all over my entire bench. Pouring them and bloody loving life. It was this moment that I realised that I had been missing me. I loved being able to go to markets and chat to people, it was the conversations and all the positive vibes that I just adored. Candles did really well, I just sold all my stuff for them recently but it was defiantly a good little gig. Thinking candles? Do them! Therapeutic as f.
During candle making time I hustled with social media for a friend for a bakery. I went along to lots of free workshops in Echuca I learnt heaps and just fell so in love with networking. I’m a super social person if you haven’t already gathered this. I loved instagram, I had always had an account since having the kids and I’d do a bit of brand rep sort of thing and loved taking pretty photos of my kids for me and for companies - only ever with my phone! So here I was juggling not so long ago a few little bits and bobs but nothing that I sort of went yeah this will stick. That is when I said to Luke, ‘I want to do photography babe’ and sure enough Luke being Luke says absolutely Jas, buys me a camera and here I sign up to a course.
Now whether it’s photography, selling cupcakes, writing a book or starting a Mums cleaning business it all begins with an idea. Now the difference with just saying and saying these ideas is that I decided I wanted to commit. I didn’t pretend that I was going to side gig keep it on the down low sort of thing. I fully committed. I made a instagram account and started shooting friends and then through word of mouth (literally your best friend ever in business) my journey began. I won’t talk heaps about all the nitty gritty things or the really shitty things that you deal and feel just yet because if you are enjoying this blog then I hope you get excited to read another one.
So that is it, that is my short but sweet story to how I am now running and absolutely frikken loving my own business. I literally get to stay at home with my babies, chat and meet so many wonderful people who become my mates, go on bloody epic holidays and just find me. You will deal with self doubt, you’ll deal with absolute lunatics if you are lucky like me when starting out in a town but the best part about it is you will have enormous amounts of self growth! If you are anything like me, you’ll quote search every different feel to put the feels to words and release and restart.
The shorter and sweeter version. You reading this, babe if you have an urge that you need to do something for you, if you sit and think about ideas but struggle to execute the best piece of advice I can give you is to start. If you haven’t heard of the word ‘manifest’ then do yourself a favour and research it! Manifesting aloud is so incredibly powerful and its right there for us to use! I am already excited for my next blog and I hope you are too.
Love Jas x
